My New Life: No Complaining Here

As if I needed to get a life?  {I don’t know, that sounded better in my head}.  Anyways, as I fail on the opening line of today’s blog post… I’ve been playing ‘house wife’ all morning.  It is crazy how a year has changed things and my perspective.  Things that I would think, “Yeah, right!  I won’t be settling down like that again”.  And now, “I can’t wait for my husband to get home”.  HA!  Crazy still to me too!  ”My husband” :).

The problem: I can’t seem to do it all.  I know, it happens to the best of us.  I want so badly to wrap up these big projects from work, write my business plan, do my taxes, start home projects {like clean out the basement and reorganize so I can get all the awesome gifts from the wedding put away}, keep up on the house/ laundry and do all the above before B comes home so I can cook dinner.  Every time I set out to accomplish the above something takes longer than I expect and I get frustrated for not being able to cross off all my ‘to do’s’.

Does anyone else feel this?  Or is this the ‘adjustment period’ I keep hearing about?  I’m thankful that my husband is willing to help out.  That truly helps.  Ultimately this is not a blog to rant, just a minor confession of how reality is setting in.  And at the end of the day this new life out in PA is a pretty sweet deal… the job, the house, and the dog ;).  I’m so proud of my husband for what he has accomplished. {WARNING: CHEESY COMMENT COMING} I’m in awe of him, pretty much every day, for who he is, what he has done and what he is doing.

Ok, enough mushy stuff.  Time to work!  Later gators :)

… ok #10 was a little cheesy but wanted to round it out to a full ten…

Seriously 2012 was fabulous! A lot of great things happened.  A lot of lessons learned {some harder than others} and a lot of memories made.  As I look at the New Year I can’t help but to feel like a little kid at Christmas.  I’m getting married :) .  I work for myself!  A new home!  And a new family!

2013 was kicked off just right!  At home, with lots of food and a marathon of Friday Night Lights.  Have you seen this show?!?  Seriously can’t believe I missed out on this tv drama when it was on air.  LOVE IT!  {Clear eyes :: Full heart :: Can’t lose}.

Oh and can’t forget it was spent with our fur babies…

Until tomorrow… hope you had a FABULOUS New Years ;)

The “B” word

Seriously?  Get your head outta the gutter!  Not what you think it is but the other nasty B word…

 Budget.

Boooooo.  (that also begins in B).

Budgets are no fun.  They are absolutely necessary but they are no fun.  Budgets are not sexy and they require work.  So once again let’s all say “BOO” together.. “BOOOOO“.

I’ve currently been updating our wedding budget.  When doing a wedding budget try to ball park HIGH.  Do some research and get estimates.  Estimates are just that … estimates. So they might change.  Be ready to be flexible!  Our wedding is on the lines of “DIY” kinda style so we are trying to SHATTER our budget and come in WAY under.  {Obviously, you will have to check back post March 2nd to see those results…}.  Another pointer, try to list EVERYTHING.  I like to scan www.theknot.com and the weddingwire.com for ideas of what to include.  These sites are amazing for any bride!  But… if you are like me and need to just keep it simple (MUAH, get it?) Then excel is the way to go.  {Thank you B for pointing this out like a month ago, and then sweetly, but firmly reminding me that spreadsheets is the way to go… kisses…}

I created this pretty little spreadsheet here…

{Yes, these are the colors of the wedding.

Yes, I have no idea what that fluffy thing is under my dress is called,

 so it will remain in the budget as the “fluffy thing”}

As you can see I’m adopting the KISS {keep it simple stupid} method to not only my business but my wedding planning.

As far as this week goes… where did this week go?  I’ve thought it was Thursday all day!  Ha, it’s Wednesday!  And guess what else? Had a fabulous day!  1:1 meetings, new clients and wrapping up old projects.  Now if I could only get on a “routine” that would be the icing on this girl’s cake!  Which by the way being just after midnight, cake sounds amazing!  And coffee… So before I end this, I have to apologize since I didn’t get to send this to my proofer… he is currently sleeping… please don’t judge my beautiful use of grammar if I royally screwed it up.  Ok? ok!

Goodnight! :)

Intro.. New Series

Hi there!

Why don’t you grab another cup of joe… I did, and I went for the gusto…

Let’s talk shall we.  {Ok I’ll talk write as you read}.

We are getting closer to THEWEDDING DAY” and there are a few things that need to addressed. And how we do that is by breaking it up into a series. Why?  Because series can be fun and it’s easier to “blog out” that way.. (for all of you new bloggers it’s true and you’re welcome).

This series is called Pre-Wed and these are the topics you can look forward to…

  1. Budget
  2. Planning
  3. Saving Money
  4. A balancing act
  5. Now What?

Things have been pretty nutty around here and I am doing my best to adjust.  What better way to figure things out than to write about them?  Let me mention that when I say ‘nutty’ I mean LOTS OF CHANGE… normally I’m pretty good with change.  I enjoy it.  I embrace it.  But WHEN EVERYTHING takes on change it can be a little rocky.  Especially when traveling on uncharted waters.  So kick back and come back :) as we look at my life and all the changes I’m doing.

Fear this!

Fear of screwing up.

Fear of letting someone down.

Fear of losing a friend.

Fear of hurting someone’s feelings.

Fear of what will happen.

Fear of failing.

ENOUGH!

When did fear creep in?  When did I “Ok” it to take over me?  Well I’m over it!  This wasn’t me.  This IS NOT going to be me now.  I refuse to believe that this is ok.  Let’s face it, we all screw up, right?  We all will fail at some point or another.  So why worry??  Beats me!!  But I do!

I came across this verse that I hear so often but never took the time to look up. 2 Timothy chapter 1 verse 7, For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.  There you have it folks… the good Book just confirmed it.

I have way too many things going on to be in a bondage by fear.  I keep coming back to this thought and I’m ready to act on it.  I have obviously hit bottom a few times in my 27 years.  Financially, in relationships, working… you name it.  Just read earlier posts.  I haven’t always got it right.  Shoot, very few times has it been right! :)  Writing this today I feel so consumed with His love I couldn’t help to share what I’ve been struggling with.

Whew… who feels better?  :)  oh oh pick me!

Jen
